Unit 7 - Summary & Conclusion

=================================================================Unit 1: Introduction to Graphic Design & Visual Elements

- Graphic design is the art of creating visual content to communicate messages.

- Designers use tools like color, text, images, and layout to grab attention and share ideas.

- Visual elements are the basic parts of a design: lines, shapes, colors, textures, space, and form.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Unit 2: Design Principals

Introduction to Design Principles- Design principles are rules that help make designs more effective and attractive.

Contrast- Contrast creates visual interest by showing differences—like using light and dark, or big and small.

Hierarchy- Hierarchy helps the viewer know what to look at first, second, and third by changing size, color, or placement.

Alignment- Alignment means lining things up to make the design look clean and organized.

Balance- Balance spreads things out so one side isn’t too heavy or crowded compared to the other.

Proximity- When you place related items close together, it helps people see the connection between them.

Repetition- Repeating colors, fonts, or shapes makes a design feel consistent and unified.

Simplicity- A simple design is clear and easy to understand—less is more!

Function- Every part of a design should have a purpose and help the user do something or understand something.

Unit 3: Fundamentals of Digital Graphic and Imaging Technology

Vector vs Raster Images & Introduction to Pixels
- There are two types of images: vector and raster.
- Vector images use lines and shapes, so they can be resized without losing quality.
- Raster images are made of tiny dots (pixels) and can look blurry if stretched too much.
- Pixels are the smallest units in digital images—they’re like tiny building blocks that form pictures.

Understanding Pixels and Digital Displays
- Pixels are like tiny squares of color that make up an image on a screen.
- Every digital display (TV, phone, or computer screen) is made up of millions of pixels.
- Higher pixel counts mean sharper, more detailed images.

RGB Color Model & CMYK Color Model
- RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is used for screens and digital images.
- CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) is used for printing.
- Mixing RGB colors creates bright screen colors, while CMYK creates accurate printed colors.

PPI, DPI & Resolution
- PPI (Pixels Per Inch) controls how sharp an image looks on a screen.
- DPI (Dots Per Inch) affects the print quality—higher DPI means crisper prints.
- Resolution is the number of pixels in an image—higher resolution means better quality.

Color Depth
- Color depth tells how many colors an image can display.
- More color depth means richer, more vibrant colors.

Hexadecimal Values & Colors
- Hexadecimal codes (like #FF5733) are used to pick colors in digital design.
- Each color is a mix of red, green, and blue values.

File Types Used in Graphic Designing
- Different files serve different purposes!
- JPEG is great for photos.
- PNG supports transparency.
- GIF is used for animations.
- SVG is best for vector graphics.

Properties of Colors
- Colors can change the mood of a design!
- Warm colors (red, orange, yellow) feel energetic.
- Cool colors (blue, green, purple) feel calm and relaxed.

Pastel Colors
- Pastel colors are soft, muted shades that feel gentle and calming.

Pantone Colors
- Pantone colors are standardized shades used in professional printing to ensure color accuracy.

Unit 4: Basic Graphic Designing Using Software Tools – Vecta

Introduction
- Vecta is a beginner-friendly design tool used to create simple graphics.
- It works right in your web browser—no need to install anything!

Using the Line Tool
- The Line tool lets you draw straight lines.
- Lines can be used to separate sections, add decoration, or build shapes.

Using the Shape Tool
- The Shape tool helps you add rectangles, circles, and other basic shapes.
- You can resize and move them to create fun, balanced designs.

Using the Text Tool
- Use the Text tool to add words to your design.
- You can change fonts, sizes, and colors to match your style.

Dimensions / Image Size Settings
- Set the canvas size to control how big your design will be.
- It’s like choosing the size of your paper before you start drawing.

Using Grid & Rulers
- Grids and rulers help you align elements neatly.
- They act like invisible guides so everything lines up perfectly.

Using the Properties Panel
- This panel lets you fine-tune your shapes, colors, and positions.
- Think of it as the control center for every part of your design.

Using Layers
- Layers are like transparent sheets stacked on top of each other.
- They help you organize your design and work on different parts separately.

Using Alignment
- Alignment tools make sure things are centered or lined up nicely.
- Your designs will instantly look more professional!

Using Distribution
- Distribution spreads multiple objects evenly across your design.
- Perfect for making layouts look balanced and tidy.

Using Arrangement
- Arrangement lets you move objects forward or backward in layers.
- It’s like deciding which item sits on top and which one stays behind.

Using Grouping
- Grouping lets you combine elements so you can move or edit them together.
- It’s useful when working on complex designs.

Using Fragment, Intersect, etc.
- These tools let you split, combine, or overlap shapes in creative ways.
- They help you make custom icons and illustrations.

Practical Sample
- Here’s a step-by-step example that brings all the tools together.
- You’ll practice designing something cool, like a flyer or a logo.

Generating Colors Using the Color Palette
- Pick and mix colors using the palette to set the mood of your design.
- Colors can make a design feel fun, serious, or exciting.

Using Effects
- Add shadows, glows, or other effects to make your elements pop!

Using Connectors
- Connectors are lines that link objects, useful for making charts or diagrams.

Saving the Document
- Save your work regularly so you don’t lose progress.
- Vecta lets you save to the cloud or download your file.

Sharing the Document
- You can share your design with others through a link or email.
- Great for feedback or collaboration!

Unit 5: Image Manipulation Using Software – Adobe Photoshop Basics

Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Photoshop is a powerful tool used to edit and enhance images.
- Designers use it for everything from basic photo touch-ups to complex digital art.
- This lesson gives you a quick tour of the interface and shows what Photoshop can do.

Learning Through Activities
Each of these lessons can focus on one key editing skill or tool through hands-on practice. Here’s a suggested breakdown:

Cropping & Resizing Images
  - Learn to trim your images and adjust their size without losing quality.

Adjusting Brightness, Contrast & Colors
  - Make your images stand out by correcting lighting and enhancing colors.

Using Layers
